LEGAL SECRETARY (FLOAT) - CENTRAL LONDON

Leading UK commercial law firms with more than 450 lawyers (including 117 Partners) offering a broad range of legal services to major national and international corporate, government, institutional and public sector clients is seeking a Float Secretary to join their Float team based in the London office.

The vacancy has arisen to provide further support to what are a busy and expanding team.
The purpose of this role is to provide secretarial cover to legal departments due to planned and unplanned absences, which can be anything from 1 day to 6 months.

The Role
Reporting to the Float Team Leader. You will be responsible for:
Audio and copy typing of memos, correspondence and legal documentation to a high standard of speed and accuracy within deadlines
Basic drafting of correspondence using clear business English.
Apply house style or equivalent firm standards to all written correspondence.
Deal with incoming/outgoing post quickly and efficiently.
Ensure voice mail, and fee earner voice mail (in his/her absence), is managed, ensuring a detailed message of movements is recorded.
Ensure an effective diary management system is maintained, using Outlook.
Record chargeable and non-chargeable time onto Carpe Diem.
Organise travel, conferences and client lunches as required, liaising with reception and clients' secretaries as required.
Open and close files in accordance with standard office procedure.
Liaise with accounts to ensure TT's are initiated on time.
Produce Elite billing guides and proformas as required.
Faxing and photocopying as required.
Effective use of the office's support departments where necessary.
Ensure material for filing is labelled appropriately.
Ensure planned absence is notified/recorded appropriately.
Storing client files.

Covered all areas legal float experience, working within a legal environment

Qualifications
Proficient in Word 2000, Outlook and occasional use of PowerPoint and Excel.
MOS Word Expert level desirable.
Pitmans/RSA secretarial qualification or equivalent
